Becks and Michael have spent their whole adult lives as professional singers and performers, and they are now regarded as entertainment business veterans in New Zealand. This experience, however, mixes with young energy and passion every time they take the stage, resulting in an electrifying and polished stage act day in and day out.
Rebecca "Becks" Wright has a ton of accolades and achievements under her belt. She has had a distinguished career in the musical theatre profession, most notably as Eva Peron in Hamilton Operatic Society's acclaimed production of 'Evita,' for which she won critical praise.
Previous credits include the lead role in 'Cinderella' and 'Mimi' in 'Rent,' both of which were performed at Auckland's famous Civic Theatre. Prior to that, she led a brilliant cast throughout the country as Pearl in the Starlight Express NZ Arena Tour, where she learned to roller skate.
Michael Murphy, after finishing as a runner-up on the first-ever NZ Idol, has had a great career in the music industry both in New Zealand and abroad. Michael signed with SonyBMG Records in 2004, and his first single debuted at number one, and subsequent hits spent significant time at the top of radio airplay lists.
His debut album, 'No Place To Land,' went gold, and he toured the country, singing to sold-out crowds and adoring fans. Michael later established the rock band 5Star Fallout and spent the following four years traveling around New Zealand, America, and England, performing on some of the world's most prestigious stages.
Michael has also had success in the Musical Theatre scene, having played 'Roger' alongside Becks in 'Rent.' While playing in 'Rent,' the pair formed a tight friendship and discovered that, despite their very distinct voices, they gelled brilliantly and produced something quite remarkable. When the season of 'Rent' ended, the couple realized it would be a waste to abandon their newfound vocal connection there.
Becks and Michael have since thrilled audiences around the country, leaving everyone they have performed for with a grin on their face and a night they will never forget.
