Planning for a Rainy Day Wedding
Planning for a Rainy Day
You have spent months planning your wedding day, and every detail is carefully picked, from the color of the napkins to the font of your wedding invitations. If you're a person who loves to be in control and have everything planned out, you'll probably know the time the sun is going down and the phone number of each of your vendors. But there is one tiny detail you can’t control, the weather. Even when you plan a summer wedding, rain is always possibility.
So how do you plan for something like this? Well, there are always options to make the best out of a rainy day, and we have all the tips for you to prevent and avoid stressing on a once-in-a-lifetime day.
Rent a tent! (Marquee :P )
Outdoor weddings are magical; you are in sync with nature, you can feel the cool breeze of the afternoon as you start dancing, and at night, thousands of stars witness your big wedding day. But being outdoors also means your guests are exposed to natural elements, such as wind, cold, and rain.
It doesn’t have to be super expensive or fancy but renting a tent as a back up will protect your guests and décor cause… “just in case”. You can also consider a clear tent which will be ideal for keeping that outdoors vibe Bonus! if it does rains, you’ll get to enjoy that calming sound of rain drops against the tent.
Dress for The rain.
When organising a wedding during the rainy season, the best you can do is be prepared. To protect your wedding dress, you can take it to the dry cleaners to add a protective spray that repels water, or if you wanna take it to the next level, you can opt for a shorter wedding gown and just have an attachable over skirt that you can take off if it gets wet or dirty during the day. And your wedding attire can be adapted to the weather situation. For example, you can add some beautiful white rain boots and a personalized or clear umbrella.
Embrace The rain.
Instead of feeling blue about having a rainy wedding, you can flip it and make it a good thing; rain is a blessing; it brings life to earth. Prepare some cute umbrellas, cozy throws, and rain boots. Everyone you love will show up to your wedding, rain or shine, so have a plan and, most importantly, have lots of fun. Here's Haylee & Anthony just enjoying their big day!
Pick the right venue.
It is always important to discuss a rain plan with your ceremony and reception venue. Perhaps you want a beautiful and heartfelt ceremony under a giant tree, but if rain shows up neither, you nor your guests will enjoy it. The best you can do is prevent and be ready to go for plan B.
Make sure your venue offers an alternative space for your ceremony so that if the weather looks a bit dicey just before the ceremony, you have the option of moving it all inside (even if its "just in case"!) .
With that said, we’ve lined up a few venues that have beautiful sheltered options for your big day to help take a bit of that stress off your shoulders!
