There are a lot of choices at Astra Bridal — and we mean a lot. They have over 590 wedding gowns for your perusal at their very easy-to-use website. There you can sort the selection by designer, with works from 14 big names including Adrianna Papell, Christina Wu, and Jenny Yoo.
You can also shop by silhouettes if that's what you want to focus on. They have it all — Full-A Line and Ball Gowns, Medium and Small A-Lines to Sheath Gowns and Fit and Flares. You can also shop by neckline (like shoestring or sleeves) or by the back profile (like scoop backs or straights), making it quite easy to find the design you desire.
Another great thing about Astra Bridal is their AB16+ line, which are plus-size wedding dresses for curvy women who rock size 18 or over. They promise that if it's in the AB16+ selection on their website, they have it in a size 18 or bigger that brides can try out. They also promise that they can order as many of their gowns up to a size 32.
In full superhero mode, Astra Bridal not only offers storage and insurance of your gown until your big day, but they can also process and deliver day-before wedding gown requests. You can also buy all the extras from Astra Bridal, such as flower girl outfits, jewelry, lingerie, shoes, veils, and even bridal face masks.
They have four locations across NZ — North Shore, Auckland, Hamilton, and Wellington. They are open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 10 am until 5 pm, Thursdays from 12:30 to 8:00 pm, and Saturdays from 9:30 am until 4 pm. I was booked to try on in store but ended up doing it via click and collect and Zoom due to the lockdown.
