I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Rowena and Phil’s wedding at the iconic Hobbiton in New Zealand—yes, you read that right, Hobbiton! Talk about a dream come true.
A gorgeous blue-sky day with the sun shining down over the lush green hills of Hobbiton, a group of cheerful Aussies (I won’t judge them…. too much :P), and a wedding celebration filled with personal touches and so much heart. That’s exactly what this day was about.
Rowena and Phil, are some of the sweetest, most down-to-earth people I’ve had the pleasure of working with. And they totally made the most of their special day. The vibrant colors of the bridesmaids’ dresses were a highlight—each of them wore a different, bold color, and it was like having a modern-day fairy tale with a touch of magic, almost like they were the three fairy godmothers from Cinderella. It was a feast for the eyes and really set the tone for the whole celebration.
The love that Rowena and Phil share is something truly special, and I’m so happy I got to capture it. Their ceremony was an emotional and heartfelt moment, made even more memorable by the presence of Glenn Millanta, the wonderful officiant who originally married them legally in Australia. Glenn made the trip over to Hobbiton to officiate once again, and the whole group felt his warmth and connection to the couple.
One of the most creative touches of the day was their custom wedding "newspapers." Rowena and Phil had made a printout entirely based on their love story, their wedding details, and fun little tidbits for their guests. It was such a unique and personal way to share their excitement with everyone, and I’m sure the guests loved flipping through them during the reception.
Speaking of the reception—what better place to celebrate than at the famous Green Dragon Inn? The atmosphere was just magical. The rustic charm of the venue combined with the couple’s joyful energy made for an evening that no one will forget. Between the food, the drinks, and the laughter, it was the perfect way to cap off a day filled with love and beautiful moments.
When you get to shoot a wedding like Rowena and Phil's, you really can’t help but feel inspired. Their day was a true reflection of who they are: fun, full of color, and bursting with love. I’m beyond grateful I got to be a part of it and capture these memories for them.
Congrats again, Rowena and Phil! Your Hobbiton wedding will go down as one of my all-time favorites.
