As an Auckland wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing many beautiful couples, but Mikayla and Jeremy’s wedding at Harpers Homestead in Christchurch was one for the books. It’s not every day you get to photograph a couple’s wedding who you’ve previously worked with — I first met Jeremy when I photographed his graduation photos, so it was such a treat to see him and Mikayla again, this time on their big day!

When we arrived at Jeremy and Mikayla's house, one thing that stood out was their gaming stations — Jeremy and Mikayla each had their own set-up, and we couldn’t resist including a few of their gaming gear in the photos. It was such a fun and personal touch that really showcased who they are as a couple.

And, of course, we couldn’t forget the stars of the house — Mikayla and Jeremy’s two fluffy Ragdoll cats! These adorable furballs made their way into a few of the photos, adding even more charm and personality to the day.

While the weather decided to throw a curveball with rain on the big day, nothing could dampen the spirits of the couple or their guests. The ceremony was moved indoors, but with the beautiful rustic and woodland-inspired decor, it actually added to the charm and magic of the setting. The space was transformed into a cosy fairytale haven, with candles, greenery, and gorgeous floral arrangements that made the indoor ceremony look even more stunning than expected.

One of the highlights of the day was Jeremy and the groomsmen’s entrance. Inspired by the Japanese band WORLD ORDER, the guys made their way down the aisle with an epic and synchronized entrance that had everyone in the room laughing and cheering. It was the perfect way to kick off the celebrations and set the tone for the rest of the day.

A giant fairytale book also made an appearance, and we had so much fun incorporating it into the photos. It was such a creative touch that made for some truly unique and memorable shots!

The reception itself was a true reflection of Mikayla and Jeremy’s personalities. The space was beautifully decorated by Marina, who worked her magic to transform it into a fairytale dream with an abundance of natural elements like branches, moss, and flowers. It felt like stepping into an enchanted woodland, and, I think the newly weds would agree with us when we say that the details, big and small, all came together to make it so magical.

The night that followed was filled with heartfelt speeches from family and friends, each one sharing memories, laughter, and love for Mikayla and Jeremy. It was clear that these two are surrounded by such a wonderful support system.

The caterers at Catering Department really pulled out all the stops with a vegan menu that had everyone raving. From start to finish, the food was incredible, and it was so amazing to see the couple offering something so thoughtful and inclusive for their guests.

As the night went on, the celebrations continued with dancing, laughter, and even more fun moments that we were so grateful to capture. There’s nothing quite like a couple who is truly in their element, surrounded by loved ones, and having the time of their lives.

Mikayla and Jeremy’s wedding at Harpers Homestead was a perfect blend of personal touches, beautiful details, and unforgettable moments. From their gaming-inspired gear to the stunning fairytale decor, it was clear that this day was all about what made them unique as a couple. I feel so lucky to have been a part of their story, and as an Auckland wedding photographer, it’s moments like these that make my job so incredibly special.

If you're dreaming of a wedding that combines personal style, beautiful venues, and unforgettable memories, you really can’t pick a better place to do it than Harpers Estate where Marina and the team there will make sure your visions are brought to life.
