Picturesque Seaside Wedding

Cultural weddings are like a breath of fresh air; I capture unique traditions and rituals each family has for such an important day in the life. Anna and Peter allow me to be part of their Cambodian spiritual ceremony, followed by a traditional one and a super fun reception.

The day began with their family gathered around the kitchen and living room to prepare a meal and set all needed for the spiritual ceremony. Once everything was ready, the guests grabbed a seat on the floor surrounding the couple, candles were lit, and it all began. It was a peaceful and meaningful ceremony. Afterward, they enjoyed a delicious meal, and then it was time to get ready.

Anna did not have traditional bridesmaids. Instead, a group of six flower girls accompanied her to the aisle and through the photoshoots. It was such a cute moment seeing them getting ready and receiving their little presents. Taking photos of this sweet group was bliss.

The traditional ceremony took place at The Officers Mess, a beautiful wedding venue in Fort Takapuna, set high on a hill overlooking the harbor and Rangitoto island. A dreamy setting to tie the knot. Peter waited patiently as the flower girls strolled down the aisle, and then, there she was looking stunning and glowing; although Peter always had his serious face on, he could not help smiling every time she was around.

Their family had a big part in every step of the celebration, and they even played live music as they signed the papers; it was a special moment. After the ceremony, I capture amazing photos of the couple with the family and friends, the ceremony arch beautifully framed the natural backdrop of the sea and Rangitoto.

Then it was time for some portraits and photos with the flower girls. We sneaked out to a couple of picturesque corners and spots, one with an orange brick wall that made the white wedding dress and black suit stand out amazingly. And we climbed on that same building to capture the majestic tree behind the cloudy blue skies, and of course, the love this couple share.

A nice and laid-back dinner was served, and of course, the flower girls had the task of opening the dance floor. They had a beautiful floral backdrop for their reception, and I got to snap cool and fun photos of their family and friends. It was such a great experience to be part of Ann and Peter's wedding, and I know they will have a happy marriage.
